Week 5

Some of our fantastic learning this week

English

~In English this week children created their own Arctic animal. They have written a fantastic description of their animal as well as writing about their habitats and any other interesting facts. They have worked incredibly hard to use all the skills taught so far this year and their writing is fantastic! Children have also been working incredibly hard on their handwriting this week as we have been focusing on joining our letters.

Maths.

Children carried on with their division, this week they were solving division problems by sharing. They have really worked really hard this week. We went into the hall to practise our sharing and division in teams with hoops and cups. They have grasped the concept of division remarkably well! We have also begun to look at our times tables this week starting with two times table and have used TT Rockstars to practise.

Science

In science children carried out an experiment to understand how materials can be manipulated in different ways. They needed to test whether they could squash, bend, and stretch and twist the items and record their findings.

Geography

This week we have been learning the 7 continents. Children have really enjoyed exploring the world on google maps and learning about the 7 continents. We had lots of discussion about who had travelled to different places and even managed to find Bramber on google earth which they thought was brilliant!
