Week 6

This week we have had a lot of giggles reading 'Dr Dog' by Babette Cole. Inspired by the book we have been learning how we can keep our body healthy by having a balanced diet, exercising and getting a goodnights sleep. We have also been learning about good oral health habits and brushing our teeth at least twice a day.

The Ducklings have been having fun in our new doctor’s surgery role play corner and we can see that we may have lots of nurses, doctors and paramedics in the making! We were also lucky enough to have a visit this week from a real life superhero, Nurse Jennifer. She talked to us about the job of a nurse and how we can take care of our bodies and keep ourselves happy and healthy.

In Maths sessions this week, we have been looking at how numbers can be composed of 1s and, from this, we have begun to investigate the composition of 3 and 4. Through using objects and pictures, we are gaining practical experience that a ‘whole’ is made up of smaller parts and is, therefore, bigger than its parts.

In Phonics we have been introduced to the sounds t, i, and n. We have been listening carefully to different words and identifying the stretchy sounds nnnnnnn and the bouncy sound i i i at the beginning of each word e.g. nnnnn nose / i i insect / t t tower.

Duckling Class have now completed their first half term at school and they have done so well! They have all settled in brilliantly, they are forming friendships and showing great enthusiasm for learning! We want to thank all the Duckling Class parents and carers again for your partnership throughout this transition, it is great to have your support.

We hope you all have a brilliant half term and we look forward to seeing you back at school on Monday 31st October.

Best wishes,

The Reception Team
