Week 8

English

This week we began our poetry unit of writing. We have spent time looking at poems linked to our icy worlds topics. We have also been learning about suffixes ness, ment, less and ly and using these words to further improve our writing.

Maths

In maths we have started our shape unit. We have been revising the names and properties of 2D shapes and practising drawing them

Geography.

This week we discussed human and physical features and identified human and physical features of Worthing

RSHE

Our topic this term is online safety, this week we were discussing the importance of a balanced day and how we like to spend our time.

PE

In PE we have started our fitness unit. We have been discussing why it is important to be active and how it can help our body and mind.

World book day.

The children had a fantastic day for World Book Day. We had a visit from a published author, the fantastic Mrs. Jinks. We spent time in the hall looking at all the fantastic books donated for book swap and children chose a book. We also want time a s class sharing our favourite books with each other.

Next week

English - We will be looking at the poem ‘Magic Box’ and drafting our own poem.

Maths – lines of symmetry and properties of 3D shapes

Science – for science week we will be learning about a scientist and carting out an investigation.

DT we will be creating a design criteria for our puppets.  

Reading – we will be reading Jack Frost

RSHE – online safety
