Week 3 27.09.21

Week 3

A super week of learning in Duckling Class! The children are continuing to develop their independence in school and are happily exploring friendships and the classroom environments.

We’ve continued with our topic this week, ‘This is me!’ The children have thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to share their beautifully decorated ‘getting to know me’ boxes with the class! It has been wonderful to learn something new about our class friends. We also remembered our good listening ears and expectations when sharing the boxes so everyone had a turn to speak and we would listen carefully to what they had to say – some of us asked super questions to find out more about our friends!

We have also been introduced to the Bramber Value, resilience. We shared the story of Humpty Dumpty in the story ‘After the Fall’. We realised that it’s important to keep trying when a challenge occurs so we can achieve our goals! Lots of us shared our own experiences of being resilient learners at home:

A – “When I was at home, I was trying to cut something with the scissors, it was really tricky but I kept trying and I did it!”

C – “My brother finds it hard to ride a bike, but he can keep on trying and then he can do it like me!”

We are certain to see lots of resilient learners in Duckling Class this year!

Special Helper

This week we have been introduced to the role of the ‘Special Helper’. Every week, a new Special Helper is chosen and they have the responsibility to help look after Duckling Class. Their role involves leading the class to lunch, handing out snack at snack time, checking our classroom is well looked after & they get to take Daisy Duckling home for a weekend adventure!
Parents & carers, we ask that when it is your child’s turn at being the Special Helper, with your support, please could they upload their weekend adventure to Tapestry – This could include photographs of their weekend or a few sentences to summarise what your child has done so they can share their adventure with their peers the following week. Daisy Duckling will need to be returned to school on the Monday so she has plenty of time to have a bath and dry off before her next adventure the following weekend :) Thank you!

Quick reminder

As the weather is now changing, it would be beneficial for every child to have a pair of named wellies in school. We will be outside in all weathers so a waterproof coat or an all-in-one suit would be great too – Thank you!

We wish everyone a very happy and restful weekend – We look forward to seeing you all again next week :)
