Spring Term

WELCOME TO SPRING TERM!

STUNNING START - THE CHOCOLATE TASTING ROOM

The children were all very excited to return to their class after lunch play to find the classroom had been transformed into the Bramber Chocolate Factory Tasting Room!

There followed an examination of the mystery parcels on the tables, and a slow, anticipatory peeling of the silver foil to find three different samples of chocolate to try. We used our best vocabulary to describe the different textures, smells, flavours and thoughts, and after we had finished tasting we created word banks to support our writing next week. What a great way to start the term!

ANGLES IN MATHS

We have been finding acute, obtuse and right angles around the classroom using home made angle finders. We were surprised how many different angles there were around the place that we had never noticed!

SCIENCE - LIGHT AND SHADOWS

We were exploring the changes you can make to a shadow by using shadow puppets and a projector. We could make shadows larger by moving them closer to the light source, and smaller by moving them away from the light source and closer to the wall. We made puppets based on our last text, the firework maker's daughter. The children really enjoyed this science investigation!

A huge thank you to all the children and parents who have done something that would make Charlie Bucket proud in their home learning! What a fantastic display!

In art we are working towards making clay models of characters from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Here are the photos of us practicing how to make a head, with a before and after the lesson model.

We went on to make our characters in clay. We need them to dry before we can paint them...

We made working hand models to demonstrate how muscles move bones.
