Italian Day - Aqueduct Success!

Finally - after an hour of trial and error and LOTS of problem-solving and teamwork, they did it! What a great lesson in perseverance!!
Italian Day!
We had lots of firsts in DT today as we taste-tested some Italian food - mozzarella, green and black olives, italian sausage and chargrilled peppers. The children were brave and we have a few new olive-converts. It was the first time lots of them had tried mozzarella that wasn't melted on top of a pizza and they seemed to really like it. They also practised the bridge and claw techniques of cutting using some cucumbers and had yet another snack! A great end to Friday!

Visit from Worthing Museum - lots of interesting Roman artefacts!
We kicked off our 'Exploring Pattern' unit by looking at the work of Gillian Adair Mcfarland. We took inspiration from her pictures created by making holes in paper. Using a needle, pin and a soft carpet tile we all made very individual pictures. The pictures were quite sensory (reminded us of Braille) and looked different depending on which side you looked at. Very calming and different!
