WELCOME TO YEAR 3, DOVE CLASS!

The children have all returned to school from the summer holidays, ready to learn new things!

Well done to all the Doves, as they have lots of new things to adapt to in Key Stage 2. They are now in the Yellow Wing, and have been getting used to new routines and locations. 

I know they are going to be successful in everying they do!

STUNNING START - BILLY AND THE MINPINS

We received a set of mysterious postcards from all around Great Britain, from people called the Minpins. The final postcard was very mysterious indeed - clues to a mystery package!

We followed the instructions and went outside for a treasure hunt through the woodland walk. We found the tree that was 38cm in circumference, and there was a parcel tied up in canvas and string! Inside the parcel was a collection of stones with words on. They spelled out:

GO   TO    THE   STORY   TELLING   CHAIR

We went to the story telling chair, and there was a big brown envelope. Inside it was a gift from the Minpins - a book!

We then settled down and began to read the book. It really was a very exciting morning!

ART - CLOTH, THREAD AND PAINT

We are making artworks using the beautiful view we have from our school field of the downs. We learned about David Hockney's landscapes and we are using his ideas. We sketched first in our sketchbooks, then transferred the drawings to hessian. We have painted in the natural landscapes, and now we are stitching in details and textures. We can't wait to see them finished at the end of term - watch this space!

MEASURING

We have been measuring in cm, m, g, kg, ml and l!!
