Week 3

In Literacy this week, we have been working together to show off our amazing writing and painting skills to create a collaborative Goldilocks display! We have also spent time looking at a selection of non-fiction books all about bears and used the facts we had learnt to have a go at writing our own fact page about brown bears. We learnt what a mammal was and how these bears hibernate over winter.

We also spent time listening to other versions of Goldilocks and the Three Bears Stories and discussed what was the same as the story we had learnt by heart and what was different. We particularly liked Goldilocks and the Three Dinosaurs and were pleased that Goldilocks escaped the dinosaur’s trap at the end!!

In our 'Understanding of the World' learning,  we spent a session learning about houses in the past and comparing them to present day houses. We found out that houses never used to have electricity or indoor toilets. We also learnt about how people used to wash their clothes before washing machines were invented and it looked like a long and difficult job!

In Expressive Arts and Design we have been practising our songs ready for the Sing Song session and we have also used our creative skills and a range of materials to create masks from our story.

In Maths, we have been learning our doubles facts and the Ducklings have been getting more confident at finding these by the day. We also spent some time investigating odd and even numbers and looked at the patterns of these numbers on a hundred square.

What a busy week, well done Ducklings!
