This week in Chaffinch class
English
Children have been working incredibly hard to write their fire reports using the writing skills and tools we have learnt so far this year.
Maths
This week we started statistics, children have enjoyed collecting data and making tally charts. They have also made their own block diagrams from this data and interpreted data.
Science
Children carried on their science investigation looking at how their sunflowers were growing when missing a crucial element. They made some fantastic observations and recorded their findings
Reading
Children have continued with the book Gorillas, they have had some lovely discussions about the story and the illustrations using their inference skills to dive deeper into the story
History.
This week children looked at how London changed after the ~Great Fire of London, they explored the lessons that were learnt from such a great disaster and how we can see the changes now.
Art.
Children continued with their architect project creating their 1666 house. They did a fantastic job not only creating the structures but working together as a team.
Next week in Chaffinch class
English – We will be starting our new text ‘Vlad and the Great fire of London’ children will be working towards creating their own diary entry of them escaping the fire.
Maths - Children will be continuing with statistics, interpreting and creating pictograms
Science - Children will be finishing their plant topic
Art - Children will be evaluating their structures.
History - Children will be learning about the fire service and how it has changed over time
