Week 5

Superworm 🪱
As part of our minibeast topic we having been reading the text ‘Superworm’ by Julia Donaldson this week. The children have been talking about key characters and events in the story when creating a class story map. This has informed our writing and role play.
Duckling class have really enjoyed exploring the learning environment and have engaged in lots of Superworm themed activities. The children have used their phonic knowledge to write facts about worms, they have created earthworm collages using various materials and exploring shades of pink. They have even been acting out parts of the story using our stretchy Superworm.
There have been spaghetti worms, pipe cleaner worms and playdough worms! We have also been using mathematical language to compare the length of worms and found out that the biggest worm is 3M long and lives in Australia.
The children have also been learning to move like a worm and have now mastered a new dance move!
