Summer

During the week beginning 15th June, Year 6 were learning about and focusing on:

  • writing our own historical narrative: The Battle of Marathon!
  • consolidating our understanding of ratio in Maths
  • building our final Greek temple in DT
  • ramping up our practice for our summer production oif Hercules
  • refining our Rounders fielding in PE

During the week beginning 8th June, Year 6 were learning about and focusing on:

  • how ancient Greek society worked in History! Here are some freeze frames which shows our understanding. Can you guess who the free men and slaves were...?

           

  • Greek pottery in Art
  • classifying animals in Science
  • designing and building a prototype of a ancient Greek temple in DT
  • ratio in maths

During the week beginning 1st June, Year 6 were learning about and focusing on:

  • the Battle of Marthon in History. Here we are enacting out our very own version of the battle!

     

  • how nutrients and water passes through ours (and animals) bodies in Science
  • researching different structures in DT
  • body image and self-esteem in RHE.

During the week beginning 18th May, Year 6 were learning about and focusing on:

  • beginning our topic 'Groovy Greeks'. Look at 'us' enjoying a very Greek symposium where we had the chance to try Greek food and debate philosophical questions just like the ancient Greeks did

    

  • geographical facts about Greece in Geography
  • working out where Greece belongs on an ancient timeline in History

During the week beginning 11th May, Year 6 were learning about and focusing on:

  • trying our best with our Key Stage 2 SATS papers before enjoying an ice lolly and long play to celebrate our hard work!
  • auditioning for our roles in our Leavers show!

During the week beginning 4th May, Year 6 were learning about and focusing on:

  • covering all of our calculation strategies and reasoning styled question in Maths
  • how to use evidence to support our answers in Reading
  • revising the different grammar and punctuation areas we have covered this year
  • fielding and batting in cricket

During the week beginning 20th April, Year 6 were learning about and focusing on:

  • finishing and editing our formal, persuasive letters about the Bowles Residential
  • the Properties of 2D shapes, multiples and factors reasoning in Maths
  • finding % of numbers arithmetic Maths
  • different word classes, clauses and conjunctions in Grammar

During the week beginning 13th April, Year 6 were learning about and focusing on:

  • writing our formal, persuasive letters about the Bowles Residential
  • Coordinates, Perimeter and Area reasoning in Maths
  • x and ÷ numbers by 10, 100, 1000, Long multiplication and Short division arithmetic Maths
  • the opening of the field!
