During the week beginning 9th February, Year 6 were learning about and focusing on:
- ordering and multiplying fractions in Maths
- learning about the mystery genre in English
- the Theory of evolution in Science
- understanding how mountains are formed in Geography
- building up to play forehand and backhand shots in badminton in PE
During the week beginning 2nd February, Year 6 were learning about and focusing on:
- adding and subtracting non-related, non unit fractions with different denominators in Maths
- learning about storytelling during Storytelling Week!
- the theory of evolution in Science
- Humanism in Religious Education
- acting in role as detectives in English. Who pushed Humpty Dumpty?...
During the week beginning 26th January, Year 6 will be learning about and focusing on:
- adding and subtracting fractions with different denominators in Maths
- writing the problem, resolution and ending sections of an account of an iguana hatchling being chased by racer snakes
- researching the adaptive traits of a chosen animal
- painting our mountain ranges inspired by the artist Nicholas Roerich
- the key features of a mountain in Geography
During the week beginning 19th January, Year 6 were learning about and focusing on:
- simplifying and ordering fractions in Maths
- writing the opening and build up sections of an account of an iguana hatchling being chased by racer snakes
- the adaptive traits animals need to survive in different habitats in Science
- famous mountains in the UK
- creating our websites in Computing
- First Aid Day!
During the week beginning 12th January, Year 6 were learning about and focusing on:
- equivilant fractions in Maths
- thinking about the vocabulary we can use and how to create atmospheres when describing an iguana being chased by racer snakes
- inheritance in Science
- famous mountains in the UK
- tint, shade and tone in Art
During the week beginning 5th January, Year 6 were learning about and focusing on:
- dividing by 2 digit numbers in Maths and starting the vital topic of Fractions!
- watching a clip from Planet Earth of an iguana being chased by racer snakes to inspire us with our writing
- mountain ranges in Geography
- Nicholas Roerich's paintings of mountain ranges
