❄️ This Week in Chaffinch Class ❄️

✍️ English

After our magical visit from the Snow Dragon, the children wrote brilliant letters explaining how we freed our items from his icy touch ❄️✨. They also came up with some fantastic questions to ask him. Their writing was amazing—well done, Chaffinches! 🐦💙

➗ Maths

We finished our topic on shapes 🔺🔵 and began exploring multiplication. This week, we focused on spotting and understanding equal groups. The children have made a great start! 💡👏

🔬 Science

Our new topic, Animals Including Humans, has begun! 🐾
We learned about offspring and how both animals and humans have young. We compared how some baby animals look just like their adults, while others look completely different! 🐣🐶🦋
The children loved sharing stories about their own pets and how they’ve changed over time. ❤️

🌍 Geography

We started our exciting topic on Icy Worlds! ❄️🌎
This week we learned about the Arctic Circle and the countries within it. The children explored similarities and differences between these places and were super curious! 🧊✨

🎨 Art

Our mono-printing unit has begun! This creative project always leads to beautiful final pieces 🎨😍. This week, the children practised different sketching techniques in their art books to get ready for printing.

📚 Reading

We began reading The Snow Dragon ❄️🐉. The children have had wonderful discussions about the vocabulary, characters, descriptions, and how different characters might be feeling. Their ideas have been fantastic! 🌟
