Autumn

The children have been learning about place value, developing their understanding of how numbers are made up of tens and ones. Through practical activities and discussion, they have been exploring how the position of a digit changes its value, helping to build a strong foundation for future maths learning.

The children have also been developing their addition and subtraction skills by first using concrete resources, such as practical equipment and hands-on materials. This approach has helped them build a strong understanding of number concepts before confidently moving on to more abstract methods, including drawings and written calculations.
