WB 05.10.26

It has been another fantastic week in Chaffinch Class!

In English, we have proudly published our wonderful Leaf Man stories, and they will soon be displayed for everyone to enjoy. The children worked incredibly hard on their editing, using their purple pens to carefully re-read their writing, spot mistakes, and improve their work. This was the first time we have really focused on editing with purple pens, and the children rose to the challenge brilliantly. They enjoyed finding ways to make their writing even better by correcting errors and adding ambitious adjectives to create more vivid descriptions. Well done, Chaffinches!

In Maths, we have been exploring different ways to represent numbers. The children have used a variety of practical resources to show their understanding of how numbers are made up of tens and ones. They have also been confidently using mathematical stem sentences to explain their thinking and deepen their understanding. It has been wonderful to see their growing confidence and mathematical reasoning skills.

I have also been incredibly impressed with the children during Gymnastics this week. We used a range of apparatus, and the children demonstrated excellent balancing skills in a variety of positions. It was especially lovely to see such fantastic teamwork and encouragement, with many children supporting their friends when needed. Their determination, cooperation, and positive attitudes were wonderful to see.

Well done, Chaffinches, for another week of hard work and enthusiasm! We are very proud of all that you have achieved.

Next week:

English: We will be beginning our next topic on poetry in Nature which some of the children have already been thoroughly inspired by through National Poetry Day last week.

Maths: Focusing on representation of numbers.

Science: Deeper Dive into a minibeast and how it survives in its micro habitat.
