Week beg 28 Sep 2026

Autumn is here at Bramber!

It’s been another packed week in Robins, with lots of learning and fun!

This week we had a very special opportunity to perform the Autumn Poem we have written together – we had a whole school assembly to promote Poetry Week, and Miss Dale had set Robins the task to write and perform a collaborative poem. We decided it should be about Autumn, so we had a walk around the woodland walk to get inspiration for some autumn words. Then we put all these words together, and discussed the sentences we could make. Eventually, a three-verse poem emerged! We put some actions to it, and learned it off by heart. It was so lovely to perform it in front of the whole school – everyone though the Robins were amazing!

The school library has reopened after a full-on reorganisation by the lovely librarians from Worthing Libraries. It will be great for the children to become more independent when looking for fiction and non-fiction books.

In English, we started reading the book Stuck, about a boy called Floyd who gets into bother when his kite got stuck up a tree. We had a lot of fun thinking and writing about other things that could get stuck up a tree (my favourite idea was ‘another tree’!).

In maths we have been really getting to grips with the numbers 0-20, including counting forwards and backwards, the tricky teen numbers, missing numbers and comparing.

In Science we continued to look at some of the properties of materials around the classroom.

In phonics we have revisited the oo and ar sounds.

In RHE we have been thinking about strong emotions, and how they make our bodies feel.

In Art we looked at natural spirals, making still-life drawings from seashells.

We have shared some lovely books this week – particularly a book called ‘Run, run, run!’ based on The Gingerbread Man.

So proud of these Robins, and their enjoyment of learning!
