🌟 This Week in Kingfisher Class 🌟

What an exciting week of learning we've had in Kingfisher Class! From exploring the wonders of space to investigating the forces around us, the children have shown fantastic curiosity, creativity and determination in all their lessons.

📚 English

We have continued enjoying The Jamie Drake Equation and have been exploring how authors use parentheses to add extra information for the reader. The children have practised using this skill in their own writing, helping to make their sentences more detailed and engaging.

🔢 Maths

In Maths, we have continued our learning about decimal fractions. We have been representing hundredths as decimals, describing decimal numbers in different ways, and comparing and ordering decimals with increasing confidence.

🪂 Science

Our Science lesson was full of excitement as we investigated air resistance through a parachute experiment. The children tested different parachutes and explored how factors such as size and shape can affect the speed at which objects fall. There were some wonderful predictions and thoughtful discussions throughout the investigation.

🚀 History

We travelled back to the fascinating era of the Space Race, learning about the competition between the USA and the USSR. We discussed how this remarkable period led to huge advances in scientific knowledge and space exploration. The children then created timelines to showcase the key events that shaped this historic race to space.

🎨 Art

In Art, we continued our Typography unit by drawing on a variety of unusual backgrounds. Using old maps as our canvas, we created detailed pencil drawings of small objects, producing some wonderfully creative and unique pieces of artwork.
