w.c. 28th September
It has been a busy week in Seagulls! We have finished our Mummy Cat poetry, with the children creating six fantastic stanzas. They have worked hard to use expanded noun phrases, interesting verbs and extra detail, as well as practising their peer-editing skills.
In maths, we finished our work on column subtraction and efficient strategies, thinking carefully about when a mental or written method is most appropriate. We continued reading Secrets of a Sun King and in history we discovered how the Ancient Egyptians mummified bodies, creating our own mummification booklets.
In science, we investigated complete and incomplete circuits, while in RHE we explored what makes communication effective.
We have also been celebrating National Poetry Day! The children explored a range of poetry books and chose a poem to inspire their new art project. We shared our Mummy Cat poems with our Year 6 buddies and enjoyed poetry clips from Joseph Coelho. Every class also created a poem about Bramber, with some lines being selected to form our whole-school collaborative poem.
Finally, congratulations to Henry and Alfie, who have been chosen as our School Councillors!
