π Weekly Learning Highlights π
We have had a super busy and exciting week in Chaffinch Class! Here’s a snapshot of all the wonderful learning that has been taking place across the curriculum π
π English
This week, we began our new key text “Vlad and the Great Fire of London” π₯ποΈ
We explored fire using our five senses, thinking carefully about how it might look, sound, smell and feel. This helped us to build exciting vocabulary ready for our descriptive writing βοΈβ¨
π’ Maths
In Maths, we have been learning how to weigh objects using grams (g) and kilograms (kg) βοΈ
We discussed why we use each measure and practised reading scales accurately.
π‘ Can you find a scale at home and have a go at reading the weight of different objects?
πΊοΈ Geography
We used maps and coordinates to plot how far the Great Fire spread across London π₯
Using a key, we identified important locations such as Pudding Lane, London Bridge, and the bakery π π
π¨ Art
We became architects this week! π·βοΈπ·βοΈ
Using a range of junk modelling materials, we designed and built our own buildings, carefully thinking about shape, structure and strength π§±β¨
πβοΈ PE
We have been practising our throwing and jumping skills as we get ready for Sports Day ππ
Everyone has been working hard and showing great determination!
βοΈ RE
In RE, we reflected on the story of The Good Samaritan π
We sequenced the events and retold the story, discussing the important messages about kindness and helping others.
π§ RSHE
We have been learning about growth mindset π§ β¨
The children talked about how we can change our thinking, stay positive, and keep trying even when things feel tricky. What a fantastic attitude!
π± We also celebrated Sir David Attenborough’s 100th birthday! π
We explored his incredible work from across the years and took our learning outside, inspiring us to care for and learn more about the natural world πΏπ
