This Week in Chaffinch Class 

We have had a very busy and exciting week in Chaffinch Class!

English ✏️
The children have written some fantastic icy box poems this week. I have been so impressed with their amazing imaginations and the brilliant descriptive language they used to paint icy pictures with their words!

Maths 💰
In maths, we have continued learning about money. We have been making different amounts using pounds and pence and practising adding them together. Some of the children were very quick at spotting the totals!

Science 🌱
Our sunflowers are growing and we are very excited to keep observing them. We also created a life cycle for a bean plant to help us understand what is happening during our germination experiment.

DT 🧵
In DT, we got creative and designed our own puppets. We carefully planned what they will look like ready for making them soon!

RE ✡️
In RE, we continued learning about the Jewish celebration of Purim and why it is such an important and joyful festival.

PE 🏃‍♂️
In PE, we focused on fitness and had a go at skipping. We quickly realised it can be quite tricky and takes lots of practice — but we had lots of fun trying!

Next Week in Chaffinch Class ⭐

Here’s what we will be learning about next week:

English ✏️
We will begin our final text for this topic, “The Boy Who Brought the Snow”, and start writing our own exciting narratives.

Maths 📏
We will finish our money topic and move on to learning about length and height.

Science 🌿
We will continue observing our sunflower and bean experiments and learn about what plants need to stay healthy.

DT 🧵
We will begin the exciting part — sewing our puppets!

History 🧭
We will continue learning about expeditions to Antarctica and how they have impacted history.

RE ⭐
After learning about Esther, who is regarded as a hero, we will start thinking about who our own heroes are.
