🌟 This Week in Chaffinch Class 🌟
It’s that magical time of year when Nativity rehearsals start to sprinkle a little festive excitement into our days! While rehearsals have taken up some of our timetable, it’s only for a short while so the children can feel confident and ready to shine on stage. We can’t wait for you to see their hard work pay off!
Despite the extra practice, the children have packed in lots of fantastic learning:
This week, the children became habitat designers! They imagined and created their own habitats, then wrote beautifully descriptive pieces using prepositions, noun phrases, and powerful verbs. Their creativity and attention to detail were amazing – we were so impressed!
In maths, we tackled addition with two 2-digit numbers, especially when crossing ten. The children used concrete resources and written methods to show their understanding and even applied their skills to reasoning and problem-solving. Their perseverance really shone through!
Our learning about Hanukkah continued, and the children explored the meaning behind the celebrations and the significance of each part. They shared thoughtful ideas and had a lovely discussion that showed great respect and curiosity.
Although rehearsals meant we had to postpone our DT research, don’t worry – we’ll be diving into that on Monday!
