Early Years Information
The Three Prime Areas
Communication and Language: Listening, attention, understanding, and speaking. Focuses on back-and-forth interactions and rich vocabulary.
Personal, Social and Emotional Development (PSED): Self-regulation, managing self, and building relationships. Helps children form positive bonds and understand feelings.
Physical Development: Gross motor skills (running, jumping, balancing) and fine motor skills (using pencils, handling small objects).
The Four Specific Areas
Literacy: Comprehension, word reading, and writing simple sentences.
Mathematics: Number sense, counting, and exploring patterns, shape, space, and measure.
Understanding the World: Making sense of physical environments, communities, past and present, and the natural world.
Expressive Arts and Design: Exploring and playing with media, materials, music, art, role play, and imagination.
